TouchDesigner Taiwan 2026 (TDTW 2026) runs on 3 and 4 October at the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) in Taipei, organised by Derivative, TouchDesigner Taiwan and Fluid Noise. Patrick Hou, Luxmin’s founder and technical director, was invited to speak in the Featured Talks on Community Day, 4 October.
The talk: TouchDesigner × Electronic Devices
TouchDesigner is known for images and generative visuals. It can also be the real-time control hub between electronic circuits and physical interaction. The talk does not begin with electronics theory. It begins with one question: how do you bring a signal from the real world into TD?
- Physical inputs. Buttons, knobs, sliders and sensors of all kinds.
- Getting the signal across. Serial, TCP and the other common ways of connecting a device.
- Worked examples. What TouchDesigner can do once it leaves the screen and is wired to the real world.
Why this subject
Patrick’s background is in digital IC design, embedded systems and Edge AI firmware. At Luxmin he works on bringing electronic hardware, computer vision and real-time interactive systems together, which is what an interactive installation asks for every day. He has also taught interactive electronics and creative technology for years.
