【Campus Reporter Yu-Wen Wu's Interview Report】 Under the sun, the campus-wide sports day kicked off with enthusiasm. At the same time, in the classroom, the digital version of the obstacle race featuring the small dinosaur, launched by Luxmin, a team from the S!Lab Entrepreneurship Laboratory, made its debut! The "Google Little Dinosaur Augmented Reality Game," which detects motion through video cameras, not only attracted student groups but also witnessed intergenerational showdowns between teachers and students during breaks. Cheers and laughter filled the air. Hsien-Chang Hou, a member of the Luxmin team and a second-year graduate student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Sun Yat-sen University, expressed his hope that this event would not only allow teachers and students to share an alternative sports day atmosphere but also draw attention to the innovative entrepreneurial achievements of students on campus.

The 'Google Little Dinosaur Augmented Reality Game' combines video camera technology with AI human pose recognition, allowing it to detect players' squatting and jumping movements. This enables the small dinosaur in the game to dodge obstacles such as pterosaurs and cacti based on the player's actions. At the end of the game, scores are immediately announced, and rankings are displayed, making it simple, fun, and adding a competitive element among players. It attracted over 50 participants in a single day, with many teachers and students exclaiming excitement.

Why is the game centered around a pixelated dinosaur?" Hsien-Chang Hou explained that both he and his team members have a fondness for pixel art-style retro computer games. Additionally, the gameplay of Google's offline dinosaur game lends itself well to showcasing AI human pose recognition technology. Therefore, drawing on his past internship experience at a VR gaming company, he developed this Google Little Dinosaur Augmented Reality Interactive Game. He hopes that while capturing public interest, he can also observe the popularity of this product in the market. In the future, during the collection of game experience questionnaires, any deficiencies in game design can be identified.

S!Lab Entrepreneurship Laboratory's guiding professor and Associate Professor of the Bachelor's Program in Humanities and Technology at National Sun Yat-sen University, Ju-Mei Hsieh, stated that during the severe pandemic period when people couldn't go to the gym, there was increased attention on sports technology products such as fitness rings. Similarly, the augmented reality game featuring the little dinosaur possesses the same market potential. She emphasized that in the past, student entrepreneurial teams had fewer opportunities for on-site practical activities and public attention. Through this fun competition, it not only encourages students with innovative ideas to dare to practice and try during their university years but also hopes to bring together young people in Zhongshan with innovative entrepreneurial ideas to create a new entrepreneurial community for long-term interaction and communication.

The 'Luxmin x S!Lab Little Dinosaur Augmented Reality Game' will be held from today until March 18th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily at the 10th floor of the Library and Information Building. The daily leaderboard will be updated in real-time on the Instagram account 'luxmin.art,' and participants will have the chance to win prizes. The top three participants will receive exquisite prizes.
